Below are some side projects I’ve done as a way to explore new interactions or tools.
Aquarium
This is a slack project I did many years ago where I wanted to learn more about new tools in Unity like the Shader Graph and more about modelling in Blender. Nothing really beats putting what you learnt to the test so I created a small prototype where fish will move around and if you look at one of the treasure chests they will start swimming towards it. A shark will appear in the background and if you look at it, the fish will get scared and flee away from it.
Everything was made by me from scratch, the fish and shark models and animations, the fish school behavior, the grass, the water effects etc.
Tree
This is a small non-interactive prototype where I created a tree in Blender and played around with some visual effects in Unity to learn about the (then) recently added VFX Graph and URP.
Knuckles
Below are some examples from a hackaton project where I took the liberty to play around with the Valve Index Knuckles controllers to explore what fun interactions you could create using gestures and hand touch functionality together with eye tracking in VR.
Throwing fire balls with gaze and being able to stop them and change targets with gestures.
Picking up boxes with gaze and then squeezing them to bits, really fun – especially in no gravity mode!
Another video example.
